Some say Eden was in Heaven. Eden, (Paradise),
Heaven, (Paradise). And the human form was around long before it entered our dimension.
The Biblical "story" of Eden is symbolic. The "tree"
symbolizes the dimensions as they reach from us up to where the Source of Life is.
Eve, being made from Adams "rib", the middle of his body. Shows woman is not above or below a man. But eqaul to him in the eyes of the Creator.
The serpent has always been a symbol of knowledge. Like the staff of the medical profession with it's two serpents.
The story shows us we have free will, to make or choice to do good or ill. And that there are other lifeforms that don't all have our best interests at heart.

Some of these stories have great moral and ethical import and we should approach and learn them carefully and seek guidance from those who can throw better light. This is not to say that we should not debate about them. Christianity has its democratic traditions to encourage debate. This may not be said about Islam, looking at the world wide upheaval due to someone drawing cartoons. If you want to ask questions,we can add a few more. Why should eating a fruit be prohibited? Fruits are meant to be eaten. Why did the all-knowing God create such a fruit at all in the first place? We all know that we learn by committing mistakes. Why would God punish Adam simply because he ate the fruit. When he was told not to eat the fruit why was he also told the reason for the same. May be it was curiosity that lead Adam to transgress. Had he been told the reason,he would not have indulged. The fate of mankind may have been different.

The fact that the Tree was put there was what gave birth to free will. Without the right to choose between good and evil, Adam and Eve's relationship (and all mankind's for that matter) with God would've been very robotic and mechanical, instead of being able to experience the fullness of His love. Had He not put the Tree or serpent there, we'd still be running around naked and ignorant, but also unable to experience God's love. We'd only be slaves of flesh and blood to His whims instead of sentient beings capable of reciprocating His love!

That really not as difficult a question to answer as you think.
a) The "tree" and the instructions given to Adam & Eve not to eat from it were a test of their obedience to God and their willingness to acknowledge his sovereignty. They failed that test.
b) God did not "put" the serpent there. The "serpent" was actually an angel, yes created by God, that up and decided he wanted for himself the glory was was due God alone
c) Do you have a TV set? With how many channels? Hundreds you say? That means you have the ABILITY to see any one of these channels. You have to CHOOSE which one to view, however, don't you? That is similar to God. He is omnisicient. He has the ability to know all. He choses how to use it.

If God had never put the tree and serpent there, he would not have been able to forsee what would happen if there were a tree. Adam and Eve's choice could not be made until the tree was there. So, God couldn't forsee what choice they would make until he put the tree there.

Yes "G-D" is all knowing. The story is symbolic of each persons life.
So you have the balls to question this. This is Great ! You will find the answer within your own being as you continue on, then step back and view your life and compare it to this symbolic story.
Embrace the male/female within and you will, no doubt, discover the answers you seek, and the truth of this matter.
Free will = ones freedom, to continue in ignorance, or to discover the truth.

Because it's a fairy tale. We could get this philosophical about Snow White if we had the desire.
I don't think their god was "just" in the old testament, that's why they decided to write a new one. You can also ask, why did their god give eve breasts if she didn't have a need for breast feeding.
It's simply a fairy tale ancient man used to make himself think he had the answers. This tale isn't even a christian one, it was borrowed from earlier cultures.
