My grandmother used to grow it in her garden.
It tastes like VEGETABLES.. haha
but she did make something like... cut okra up in slices... Like you would a cucumber... fry it in butter .. it had a coating of light breadcrums and grated parmesan.. with the butter.. it masked the dirt flavor of veggies.. it was actually good.

My mom was from Tennessee and I lived in Georgia for several years, so I've had my share of okra. Most people find plain, boiled okra to be too mushy and slimy, which it is. To me, the best okra is breaded and fried. You can find it already breaded at the grocery store, in the frozen food section,so all you need to do is put some oil in a pan, fry until just golden brown, and enjoy with your favorite meat. Southerners especially like it with fried chicken and maybe some black-eyed peas.

I like okra but a lot of people have a texture problem with it. It's kind of slimy. The best way to start eating it is to fry it until you aquire a taste. I'm from the south and we put it in everything.

Okra tastes like, well, okra. It is hard to explain but easy to enjoy. Your best bet for trying okra for the first time is to go to Cracker Barrel and order it fried. I think you will enjoy it.

Fried okra is the best!

I bought a frozen pack of raw okra in the store and it was kinda slimy. Make sure you wash it really well, and then roll in a batter and fry on the stove.

Good stuff!!
