I wouldn't think that a mother has that type of control over her daughter's body. Call an abortion doctor and ask.

WOW it never ceases to amaze me how someone drops the word "abortion" and so many people come out to critize and pass judgment. Sit in judgment on your own lives before you post stuff like "murdering your own grandchild". Or, "shouldn't let her get pregnant in the first place". Good grief! Perhaps this poster really just needs some support right now.....
Poster: I don't know the answer to your question, It would vary from state to state. I don't think you can make someone have a procedure like that, but I don't know. However, the mom of the 16 year doesn't have to let you remain living in her home either, providing shelter and food. Things can get tricky quickly. Best of luck.

As far as I know once you turn 16 you are able to make your own decisions. It is quite obvious that your mother does not want you to have the child because you are so young. There are support groups out there for young mothers who are alone to deal with being pregnant and the responsibilities that come with it. If your family and the guy who is the father does not want to help you please call one of those places or even if they do stand by you, it's nice to be with other people going through the same thing. You do not have to do this by yourself and as a mother with a young daughter I don't believe that your mother would not stand beside your decision.

No, she cannot. The only one that can make the decision to abort a child is the women carrying the baby. Now depending on state laws a child under 18 must have thepermission of the parents to have one. but thats it...a mom has cannot make someone abort the baby

Why would a 16 year old want to keep the baby? listen to your Mom. If you take the pregnancy full term, you'll have bonded with your baby and it will be difficult to give up for adoption.Save being a mom for when you get older.18 or 21 is a better age for throwing your life away

Because she is a minor, I would say yes, the mother can.

I'm not sure why anyone would force someone to do something that traumatic. What's important is talking through the situation and deciding what is best for all parties involved...taking into account the fact the daughter's physical and emotional health and respecting her wishes.

I don't know, but that's your grandchild, it's not the end of the world there's always something besides murder, if your daughter is pregnant and won't to keep the baby let her, if your worried it will ruin her life you could baby-sit while she finishes school or take the baby to day care, or some schools offer a day care program, or you and your daughter could consider adoption, and give the baby to some people who will want it and love it, there's plenty of people who can't get pregnant and would love to adopt a baby, so please consider your options before abortion

If your question is abortion, which it sounds like it is, most likely no...all your daughter has to do is petition the Court in most states and it will be denied or too late by the time a Court makes a decision.

In the USA, a minor CANNOT be forced by anyone to have an abortion. It's the girl's body and it's her choice.

I am appalled by the ignorance of so many people on this site.

Not at 16, no. At 15, maybe - depends on the state. You would be hard-pressed to find a doctor that would force a girl against her will - but it takes all kinds.
