I am 20 years old, and I started taking Ortho-tricylen. A few months later, I started having symptoms of Acid Reflux. I read that the side effects of my pills are "nausea and vomiting". Is this causing the reflux or is Acid Reflux (or GERD) natural? I am taking Nexium now but it doesn't help much.

They could very well be the cause, suggest a lower dose of BC pills or a different brand.

In some cases, pills taken for long period of time cause reflux. If you want to try, stop taking them for 2-3 weeks to see what happens. I take it that your symptoms occur while you at on the be, or before sleep.

You should probably see a doctor about this - he may adjust your dosage, or switch you to a different prescription, or you may have a different problem that is unrelated, but you really need to see your doctor to get an accurate diagnosis. The birth control pill is designed to fool the body into thinking it is already pregnant, so having "morning sickness" might be a side-effect.

Possibly. If you can take with food, do. That usually alleviates nausea problems. Increase your fluid intake too. Drink MORE water. Water dilutes stomach acid.

I think you should go and see a doctor. Acid Refulx is very damaging to you. Good luck.
