I use the Gilad program with extra weights, which surprisingly works for me (usually videos don't).

I'm in great shape, but I'm not a fan of the gym and this has been a great alternative. I do understand that videos are not the same as free weights at the gym, which is why I tack on extra weights and sessions when I use the videos.

Is doubling up on my work outs (30 minutes in AM and 30 minutes in PM) doing anything for me besides assuaging my guilt?

No its not to much. but if you just started working out you should just work out for 30min and then you can go into working out for 60min . But 60min is the most you should work out in a day.
Hope that helps

No it's not too much at all. It's only an hour a day. Most people who work out regularly do it for at least that.

To me that seems a bit extreme. Maybe call your local gym and ask their trainer. Of hopefully someone here can help.
