The first and foremost way that God communicates is through His Word. Anything we hear after that should be confirmed in and by His Word. If it's not in His Word than there is no witness that it is from God. God speaks to us in many ways. He may give us a nudge, a small or persist ant suggestion that will continue to be on our minds. Sometimes we can hear His quiet voice. Other times He will talk to us through ministers and fellow Christians. Sometimes He even uses non believers to tell us things. Often He uses little situations or miracles to give us a sign of assurance. God can speak to us anywhere and at anytime, however people just ignore to be receptive. The most obvious way is when we are about to commit a sin there is a little voice in the back of our mind that asks " Are you sure that's what you want to do?" I recognize that voice, because everytime I ignore it I will find myself in trouble.
God still gives people dreams and signs and wonders, but we should not be looking for them. God speaks to us in the ways that He knows we can receive and recognize His voice. As His sheep, we recognize our Shepherd's voice.

God communicates with us through three ways:
01. His Word: God left His completed Word with us that we might know His will. God's Word covers any issue we can possibly face in this world. Remember, each time we open the Bible, we are opening the very mind of God! (II Timothy 3:16-17)
02. The Holy Spirit: Upon salvation, the believer is baptized in and indwelt by the very Spirit of God! He lives in us and helps us along our path (Acts 2:1-4; Galatians 5:16-18; I Cor. 6:19)
03. Wise Counsel: Other believers who know God and His Word can give us counsel about our decision and problems; we should listen and heed this counsel as long as it lines up with God's Word (Titus 2:3-4; II Timothy 2:1-2)

God communicates with us mainly through his words of the Bible. He will bring us to remember a situation or words that other men of God were going through. The Beauty of the Bible is that the Holy Spirit brings us to remember the right verse for every situation. Also bring scriptures together to prove other things that were previously not known. But also Dreams, visions, and prayer can be helpful to get further understanding or answers to healings, signs, and miracles.

We communicate with God through the Holy Spirit. Through the Spirit we are able to discern many things written in the Old Testament. It requires a lot of prayer and a lot of willingness to be open to the Spirit.

Certainly that is true. Nothing blinds a man so much as his own eyes. When you analyze it, it was sense knowledge overruling the word of God spoken to Eve through Adam that brought her into defeat when the Satan, as a serpent tempted her: " When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. " Genesis 3:6-7 It was from the moment Eve trusted more in her senses than the word of God, that the true vision of who God was was hidden from Eve and from Adam, and they were afraid of God and hid themselves. They died that day to God; no longer understanding His true nature; and began to live under the influence of a lie. To this day most of the descendants of Adam and Eve live the same way. But for believers...... "For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.....We live by faith, not by sight." II Corinthians 4:17-18; 5:7

Henry Blackaby has a Bible study available. It is called "Eperiencing God" knowing and doing the will of God. This study explains how God communicates with us in the present time. He speaks to us through the Bible, the Church, prayer and circumstances.

The bible is to be used for guidance and to teach whats wrong and right. But Jesus gave us the Holy Spirit, which talks to us from the inside, encourages us, and tells us what we need to do.
There have been a few times that I heard the voice inside me tell me what to do, and when I did, something good always came from it.
