Basically - A person's whose mood swings up and down from elation to depression. It is a psychological disorder known as "bipolar disorder" This condition can be similar to Dissociative Identity Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder. Only a trained Psychological professional should diagnose any of these conditions.

Bipolar Disorder, formerly known as manic-depression, is a diagnosis in psychiatry referring to mania (or hypomania or mixed states) alternating with clinical depression (or depressed or euthymic mood) over a significant period of time. Unlike highs and lows a normal person might experience, one with bipolar disorder experiences extreme mood swings that can last for minutes to months. Mood changes of this nature are associated with distress and disruption, and a relatively high risk of suicide.

not sure exactly what you're wondering, but it's a mood disorder...that has two faces - the depression (the depths of depression where you have difficulty functioning - cry a lot, can't eat, are terribly tired, have difficulty concentrating, have suicidal thoughts) and then the other side is a mood swing to mania (you have excessive energy and don't sleep - sometimes for days - your thoughts move so fast you feel confussed trying to keep up with them, you talk fast, you often have thoughts of thinking that you're gifted (like can travel through time, or know god) - you spend exsive amounts of money (that you don't have often) and do things out of character - like sleep with strangers (you have an increased sex drive) - some have an angry feeling and others an elated feeling -- those are the basics - some people are manic and then depressed (or vise versa) for an hour, a day, a week or a month...people can often control the drastic mood swings by taking mood stablizers and anti depressants or anti-psychotics...and many live healthy, happy, normal lives as long as they take medication...their is so much more to say...but hope that helps a little...

Manic Depression Disroder, is when you get a high that is so high, that you believe that nothing or no one can hurt you. You can even believe that you are God himself. Then you can hit lows, that are so low, that you think that you are the lowest thing on the face of the earth, or anywhere. You really dislike yourself to a really unhealthy point. The only way this can be controlled is if you take medication for it, and you have to stay on it for the rest of your life, or you will get those high highs, and low lows all of the time. Just keep going from one to the other. Can cause you a heck of a lot of problems.

Manic Depressive is also know as Bi-Polar disorder. It is where u have few "happy" times and a lot sad times. It is an emotional roller coaster. Ur Brain doesn't produce enough of serotonin, the chemical that keeps everything in balance. Symptoms could include: thoughts of suicide, absurd acts that u normally wouldn't do, splurging on things u don't need, fatigue, loss of appetite, crying for no reason. There r other symptoms, so just talk to ur doctor, just to make sure.

bipolar is a mood illness.you swing from totally depressed to
totally happy.(i.e. nothing seems to make you unhappy).it is hard
to diagnose because some people have"normal" periods.but
what exactly do you want to know?yes its a real illness.if you have it dont delay treatment,it gets worse the longer you wait.it sometimes takes awhile to find what meds work for you,so dont
give up.if it someone you know try to offer support,if its you then
ask for people to be patient with you.that is if you are trying to get
better.dont know what else to say.
