Hi! Im 5'5 and weigh in at 130 lbs. I would like to get back down to my normal weight of 110 lbs (baby 6 months ago and the last 20 lbs are stubborn!)... Im not breastfeeding so I have no restrictions. My questions is.... how many calories should I have on a daily basis to loes weight and... how long should I run on the tread mill to loes weight? I have been running about 3 times a week for 1 mile on my treadmill I believe the speed to be 5.0...
Can someone help me out by just letting me know the calorie intake I should have... and the workout?

Thanks!!

You need to burn 500 calories everyday for one week to lose one pound. http://www.caloriecontrol.org/winweigh.html This sounds like a lot, because it is. If losing weight was easy, there would be no fat people in the world. On average, you burn approximately 100 calories for every mile you run/walk, depending on your height/weight. Three miles a week is not going to get you the results you want. All other variables held constant, you need to be running/walking at least five miles a day.

You can also consume 500 less calories a day. There are many websites that list calorie content for specific kinds of food. Here is just an example of one... http://www.caloriecounting.co.uk/resources/food/calories_fruit.htm Certain types of food you eat/avoid can affect your body weight also. For instance, certain types of fiber have been shown to help people lose weight. http://www.gicare.com/jpthl01.htm

Be sure to keep in mind that being too thin is unhealthy also. This site http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/bmi/adult_BMI/english_bmi_calculator/bmi_calculator.htm has a handy BMI calculator that can help you determine a healthy weight. All in all, you just need to reduce your calorie count. (Meaning, you can't reward yourself with a cookie for going to the gym!) I hope this helpful. It takes time...be patient.

hey, i have a 6month old too(and a 2 yr old) so i know how u feel...you should be eating about 1200 calories a day... eat your carbs before your workout(not too much) and have protien after...like a chicken or greens (again not to heavy) when u eat meat u shouldnt eat it in any more than 3-4 ounces at a time...your body cant digest any more than that, so the rest turns into fat...Drink lots of water(4-6 bottles a day) and dont eat after 8pm or within 2 hours before u go to bed. to lose the weight u want to do lots of cardio and different escersises....u need more than just your tred mill...got to a gym, most gyms these days have an inhouse daycare, u want 20min on 3 diferent machines...the eliptical does wonders...i love it... set to cardio or fat burn and keep your heart rate up...remember baby is weight isnt easy to lose, u want to do this 4-5 days a week, it will take about an hour to an hour and a half...aand always do your abs...everday do your abs...Good Luck Hun

Check out your BMI and in some Gyms they will measure the fat at different locations of the body and suggest you about the amounts of calories you can take and type of exercise you need to get back in shape. It also calculates your body age which is different from your actual age. It really worked out good for me.

Better to run a half mile daily, and 1200 calories a day should help you lose weight.

The first thing you need to do is determine your metabolic rate. There are a couple tests an exercise physiologist can do to get a basal (baseline) measurement. Once you get that number the rest is easy to plan.
