Yes. The Catholic Church has been telling people to worship God and God alone since the founding of the Church during the time of Jesus Christ.
We should also stop putting things like power, influence, social staning, money and our own selfish desires ahead of God.

Some people need a physical anchor to feel a stronger connection spiritually.
If you don't need it great, but it has a purpose for those that need that stepping stone.
