Wicca, and some other Pagan faiths generally do not have permanent places of worship. 'Worship' (Not really the right term, honor, veneration or communion would typically be more applicable.) is usually done outside whenever possible, preferably in a natural setting.

In addition to those, many faiths erect shrines in various locations for many reasons.

Many Native American religions use "Sweat Lodges" for worship, meditation, and spiritual enlightenment. They are a half dome made to certain standards, traditionally covered with buffalo hide, more recently with many blankets, at the center is a pit where heated stones are brought in to raise the temperature of the lodge and produce the sweat part, water is pored over the stones to make steam. Temperatures can exceed 150 F. A tribal elder, grandfather, or uncle, leads the lodge in prayer and officiates at the entire ceremony. For details of lodges in different tribes check out individual tribes web sites for more information.
