She is still really young. You are her replacement "litter mates" right now. Make sure you have lots of toys and when she is a few weeks older she will start to entertain herself.

Dogs (and puppies) are by nature pack animals, which means they need the social interaction of their pack-- in this case you and your family.
She may chew on a toy or a bone by herself-- lots of puppies and dogs do this to settle themselves down before going to sleep. But, she needs you to interact with her-- fetch, tug of war, hide and seek, etc.
Also-- you may want to try a puppy kindergarten class. That will help socialize her and teach her to play with you and other pups, as well as learn some basic commands.
If you haven't already, take her to the vet ASAP just in case she isn't feeling well (like if she has worms) to rule out any medical causes.

I don't think puppies/dogs ever play by themselves...at least they don't want to.
However- I'd say she's probably sleeping simply because she's a puppy and right now- wagging her tail is ensuring she'll need at least an hour nap LOL...
She'll learn to entertain herself around 5 months or so- once she looses her baby teeth- i'd say. Just be sure to give her plenty to do.

Absolutely normal! pups spend a lot of time sleeping when there is not much stimulating them. So don;t worry about it as long as it does play when you are around. About 20 weeks you will find that the dog is more active and will spend less time asleep. but may just rest and be observant .

Young puppies require lots of sleep in order to grow and develop physically. I would not worry about a young dog sleeping too much. They do it because they need to.

Get her some toy's. Maybe even one that moves about so she has to chase it. There's a ball like toy, designed to stimulate the mind, you place small treats/dry food inside and they roll it around till a treat falls out. They have a ball. :D Most pet stores like PetCo and such carry this toy.
