I ride the bus, subway, streetcars, or rapid transit line whenever possible here in Toronto. Despite the Toronto Transit Commission's high fees ($2.75 per system access), the TTC provides routes to nearly every point in the city with great regularity. It may take three hours to get there, but you will eventually get there without walking or owning a car.

I can't. I have 4 children, a First Grader, a Terrible Two year old and Twinfants. I'm outnumbered 4 to 1, there is no way I'm going to be at the mercy of a bus schedule when the Ultra Meltdown happens. I need to be able to leave the store/mall/etc when all 3 of the little ones start crying.

I do not. I wish I could. I do carpool and use a high fuel effeciency car. My wife and I live in far South Austin and we only have 11 miles to get to work. We can drive it in 20 minutes in heavy traffic. Because of the way our bus system is laid out the same ride would take us an hour - which, to me, seems more ineffecient.

I drive my own car to work. The only mass transit option available here is to take a bus. The routes are limited, do not run often enough, and close at 6:00pm.

When I used mass transit it took me 1/2 an hour to 45 minutes longer to get to work (& same going home)
and THAT was too much time extra to spend commuting.

I wish I could, my town doesn't offer it. Whenever I vacation to a larger city I do. I think it's very interesting and kind of fun.

I don't. None available. When I lived in LA, none went where I had to go for work.
