You ask, who is God? and they tell you "Jesus". Then you ask, who is Jesus? and they tell you "God's only begotten Son" (variations, of course...)

I'm just a little confused......?

Believing and knowing that Jesus was (and is) a mere human being who was sent by God as a Prophet for his people so that his misguided people can be guided through him is MUCH more logical than believing that God is Jesus and Jesus is God AND God's son. Our Merciful Creator would NEVER burden our minds with something like the Trinity, making us struggle with its understanding when till this day, no one has successfully been able to understand or explain it properly. Just know that God is One, Purely One, He has no son, He has no father, He created you and me and the rest of His Beautiful Creation... and He is the only One worthy of being worshipped by His Creation. :D
Here's how the Christian belief goes, though: One of the books in the Bible, Mark, was written to present Jesus as servant of God (like you and me, except he was a Prophet). Then another book in the Bible, John, was written to present Jesus as God's son. Another book, Mathew, reveals Jesus as king of the Jews. And another one, Luke, presets Jesus as son of man.
They're all basically contradicting each other, so I am not at all for believing any of them. Who was Jesus REALLY? The logical truth is that he was a humble human being, born through a miracle to his virgin mother, Mary, talked during his youngest days to save his innocent mother from being punished by her people because they thought she'd committed a sin of bearing a son before marriage, made a Prophet of God to his people, the people disagreed with him and tried to crucify him but didn't succeed.
I don't understand Trinity either (and don't accept it at all), but they say it's not something to argue about, you see. The human mind is not capable of understanding it; some people call this Blind Faith, I think. The Christians say: "God is one, and God is three. Since there is nothing like this in creation, we cannot understand it, but only accept it." I don't believe in accepting things just like that....If faith gets this confusing, you are not supposed to believe it then. My religion is purely logical and makes perfect sense... ALL the way! There's no mystery in there, nothing like Trinity, nothing like God is three and God is One... It says God is ONE and ALONE and has NO SON and a few of our characteristics may be similar to His ones (like, humans do have the ability to forgive, be generous, be kind.... God is all that and MUCH more), but no one knows what or whom God looks like. No one's supposed to know either. He never sent a Son to die for us; why would He punish just ONE person for all of OUR sins when the one punished was an inncent human being???? It's unfair, and God is far too Just to do that. I know Christians say that Jesus VOLUNTEERED, but, you see, Jesus prayed to God to save him from the humiliation of the most humiliated punishment of that time (crucifixion), and so God saved him by raising him forth to Himself. Jesus (peace be upon him) will be coming back to earth near the end of the world to live his life like a norma human being (since his life was made miserable by his people back at the time that he was a Prophet of God) and to guide people, proving to them that he never did claim that he was/is God or God's son or anything like that. Ahhh... I can't wait for that! :D
Peace be upon you, sister! And I'm very, VERY proud of you for raising questions like that! It makes the heart and mind much stronger! May God help you in finding the Truth, siser!!!

Ok, so first it is absolutely true that Jesus is God. But it must be noted that God is a title, but there are 3 beings who all hold this title. God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. All three are God but they are totally seperate from each other.

Another thing to note is if Jesus is a begotten Son, how could he have always been God? The answer is he has not always been God, because both begotten and Son mean there was a time when he was created. For more info on this check www.mormondefense.com under the link God and Man.

In the culture in which Jesus lived, the phrase "son of" have a different meaning that it does today in western culture. It referred to a person (whether they were biologically related are not) who have been given the rights, privileges and power of the "father". When Jesus is spoken of as the "son of God", it means one who has the same nature, rights, powers and abilities as God Himself.

So the meaning is different that what we mean by the words today. That is why the Bible also talks about Jesus being the "only begotten Son" of God also. That refers to his physical (virgin) birth. This is what we think of today as being "the son of".

So Jesus was the Son of God first, because he had the nature and power of God even before he was born as a human. But then he also become a physical Son of God through the virgin birth. You will see that explained in Philippians 2:5-11

Look how it is. When God created the world, together with Him were Jesus and the Holy Ghost. When God wanted to save the world from going down under the power of sins and Satan's power, He decided to help humanity by sending His Son (the first of His creations, even before the angels) into the womb of a 15-year-old girl called Mary. This is how Jesus is God's (Jehovah's) son.

If you haven't read the Bible yet, I thikn that it would help you to understand. I don't know any Christians that say that God is Jesus. But they will tell you that Jesus is God. Then also is the Father, and the Holy Spirit that is God. The three persons are one God. How is that possible? I don't know! lol That's been a subject of debate with learned scholars for centuries. But the Bible makes it clear to any that bother to read it, that God has alot going on that we simply so not understand.

Jesus is the sacrifice that made it possible for us togain access to God. But that's a concept that takes time to learn. Don't expect to get the concept on Yahoo!Answers. This is not a good place to do that. E-mail me if you are serious. ( ;

Jesus is God's son. His father is the Almighty God. He is the "only begotten son" because he is the only thing created by God alone, after him Jesus helped in the creation of the heaven and the earth as the "master worker". The bible refers to many Gods, pagan god's such as Bael for example, Pharaoh's Gods in the exodus account. It is not disputed that these were Gods, as Jesus also is, but only his father is referred to as the "Almighty God" or Alpha and Omega... etc.

Say your family name is Smith. now who is your father? Who is your mother? Who are your siblings? Now tell me, how can you be Smith and still be sister, daughter, aunt? As a family, you are supposed to have the same purpose in mind but you have different characteristics and different names but you have the same last name, don't you? Are you any less a Smith just because you are a daughter? Think of God as the family name and it will be much easier to understand. There are many things we are not meant to be able to understand as like the bible says, God is spiritual and we are carnal so cannot understand all the things about God. Like we cannot understand how God could have no beginning or end as we are created and have no understanding of how this can be but God understands. We will be studying things about God for all eternity and still not know all there is to know about Him.

Good question, Jesus (peace be upon him) is not God, he was a prophet, who did not get crucified, but was ascended to heaven.

I guess people think he is god because of his power to heal. But this power only came to him though the one God, the Creator, and Who is capable of doing all things.

I hope God will guide you the straight way ;)

Your speaking of the Trinity doctrine. That is a very popular belief of our time. But did you know that this is not what was taught by Jesus and his disciples?

The bible teaches at Psalms 83:18 " That people may know that you whose name is Jehovah, you alone are the most high over all the earth." So God's name is Jehovah.

Jesus is his son that he sent to earth. John 17:3 "This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you the only true God and the one whom you sent forth Jesus Christ."

A few other scriptures to consider:

Acts 7: 55, 56 ".... Jesus standing at God's right hand."
Matt. 26: 39 Jesus prayers to his father: "My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me, nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt."
John 8: 17, 18 "In your law it is written that the testimony of two men is true, I bear witness to myself, and the Father who sent me bears witness to me."
Mark 13:32 " Of that day or that hour no ones knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."
John 14:28 "If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I go the Father, for the Father is greater than I."
1 Cor. 11:3 "I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is her husband, and the head of Christ is God."
Col 1:15,16 "He (Jesus Christ) is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation..."

So from these scriptures, does it sound like they are the same or two distinct individuals? Jehovah God does not want us to be confused about who he is or who his son is. He wants us to get to know him and his son as John 17:3 stated. It means our life.

In the bible their are many God.(Psa 82:1 God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods. Psa 82:6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. ) You can see in this verses that there are congregation of gods, and God call his children gods. Satan is also called god, god who blinded the minds (2Co 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. ).

God almigthy is the creator.(Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.) Jesus Christ is the Son of God (Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.).

Now, if you ask the real Christian who is God they will not answer you Jesus because it is obvious that the one you asking is the God almigthy.

Read the bible so that you will not be lost, dont just believe to a pastor or priest or what so ever. Seek for the TRUTH there is only one true Religion\ Church.

In our times many false leaders will appear using the name of Jesus. If you ask question to them or listen to them you will be lost(Mat 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. Mat 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. )

God is calling you.(Jer 6:16 Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.)

to jarih: trinity is only catholic doctrine and not a doctrine of Christian. No trinity is written in the bible, Christian based their answer in the bible. Catholic is only claiming that they are Christian. Now you understand.
