when the doctor says "you concieved on 9/22" does this mean that was the day the sperm reached the egg and fused together? If so than I am assuming fertilization took place 1-2 days prior? Sorry, just a little confused.

Fertilization means egg meets sperm. I think what you're asking is if the DAY OF INTERCOURSE could be 1 or 2 days prior to the fertilization date. And the answer is yes, but it's usually within 12-24 hours.

Actually according to my OBGYN sperm can live in ideal conditons for 3 to 5 days, so it could be within that period also.
And yes, fertilization occurres when sperm meets egg, however intercourse could have occurred days before.
