I'm a 21 year old catholic from Singapore. I'd like to take part in a catholic mission trip, particularly to a region of Africa (Kenya, Ethiopia, etc.) Does anyone know of any international catholic mission groups? Please only serious answers. Thanks.

Your local Archdiocese has an office to help you contact responsible mission programs.

Contact the Singapore Archdiocesan Commission for Missionary Activity (ACMA).

ACMA exists to promote mission awareness and missionary participation among the faithful through:
- seminars/ workshops on various aspects of missiology
- mission orientation and mission exposure programmes
- tracts, leaflets and newsletters and articles on mission
- reaching out to non-Christians through tracts, booklets and pre-RCIA programmes
- mission awareness and action at parish level (Parish Missionary Groups)
- promotion of inter-religious co-operation and dialogue

Check with the missions office of your Diocese. If their mission is not in Africa, they can point you to one that is. The Diocese of Toledo in America has a mission in Zimbabwe with the Binga people.

Check with your local church. Catholic church isn't big in Ethiopia but maybe Kenya. What exactly do you want to do? Pushing Christ on locals has been done- but maybe you can teach in a school?

I'm not too sure about church missions, but I've come across a blog (http://lostgirlsworld.blogspot.com) where 3 girls backpack around the world and from their previous posts, they have volunteered at Christian orphanages in Africa.

I wish you all the best! :)
