We used to have a cat that did that. We thought it was cute...messy...but cute. We called her "Lady Saliva."

Dribbling or drolling is a direct respond to your petting. Cats react differently when stimulated. Some roll on the floor with pleasure, some stick their buttocks high up the hair, some will even vocalized in a sing song manner. Although you may be tempted to correct of fix this behavior, unfortunately, stimulated drooling is involuntary. Your cat cannot control his response to your petting. However, you can help him swallow his saliva instead of drooling by lightly tapping him on the nose or by stroking his neck and gently tugging his head upwards. Also, have some paper towels or cloth ready to clean up. :)

drooling relates to kiitenhood i think. I used to have a cat that drooled constantly. Not all cats do it but it is nothing serious if they do, it is quite natural. It is a sign of pleasure and contentment!

Sounds like you have a real soothing touch. Maybe she is just so relaxed she starts to drool without knowing it.

Funny, my cat did this for the first time yesterday. I panicked - I thought something was wrong. I googled it and found out that very often it is a sign of affection and meant they are very, very happy. Pretty gross huh?!

The vet told me it's a "leftover" from when they nursed their mothers when they were young. Your cat feels secure and close to you, and she's enjoying herself! Still icky - just use kleenex!

Becasue your cat is in a state of relaxation so it does not control its lips properly.
