The only way is to build up stamina and be physically fit.

Jog for a minute, walk for a minute. Eventually when thats easy, Jog for two minutes-walk for one. Keep building up that process...and it will help increase your stamina which will make sure you arent out of breath on little things you do in your everyday life.

Plus, smoking can affect your lungs. Stop smoking now to enjoy healthier lungs later.

Inhale as deep as you possibly can, then sniff in three more times. Then blow it out and force out 3 more exhales. Then inhale again, do this 3 to 5 times per session about 3 or 4 times a day.

It will help to expand your lung capacity.
