I currently use Pagemaker at work for creating flyers and such but this is the only program I know and am self-taught. I understand that this is considered a "dinosaur" program and would like to be using something more current but VERY user friendly. Any suggestions?

Well, since you are familiar with Pagemaker, why not go to InDesign?
Pagemaker was discontinued a few years ago, and Adobe came out with InDesign as its upgraded replacement.
Its fairly similar, so I think just by poking around, youll be able to get the hang of it to some extent. Text boxes, placing images, changing colors, etc.
But there are also alot more useful features than PM had.
And its more well received at printing companies than PM ever was.
