So many more 'average' people today invest in the market. The internet trading and things of the sort make it SO much easier now than in the old days. In addition, most 401K's and mutual funds are heavily invested into the stock market.

So... once again, Nancy 'NAMBLA' Pelosi is quite wrong. But that is nothing new

Democrats like Nancy Pelosi are basically preying on the ignorance and stupidty of the typical democrat most of Americans either own some stock has a 401k that is part of a mutual fund or has part of their pension fund invested in the stock market.

She is well educated so she knows better so her words are for the less educated. So she can basically insult the average American because they are not aware she is actually insulting them which is what democrats do. Isn't ignorance a wonderful thing?

It's not that people other than the rich don't benefit, it's just to a much smaller degree. My investments in stock, 401k or whatever, may grow, but it certainly isn't paying off my school loans. On a good year, I'd be lucky to be able to by a new monitor for my computer with the difference in appreciation. Usually a growth in the economy helps a majority of the people positively. The argument comes from those who think the rich, and in particular the super rich, benefit disproportionately greater than most.

You don't have to be rich to buy stocks! My 18-year old daughter buys stock. You can buy many stocks for $50 or less. I'm sure Nancy Pelosi owns stock. Instead of saying this why didn't she explain that anyone who wants can buy stock and benefit from a high stock market?

Anybody who is invested in a 401K or any sort of pension plan is a stock market investor.

In addition anybody who is not putting something away as a long-term investment is an idiot.

I drive a 10-year-old car to work but put a minimum of $200 each month into the mutual fund. I see many people who get a new car every few years but 'cannot afford' to invest.

Pelosi is a cretin.

The biggest owners of stocks in the United States are pension funds. Anybody in America who is part of a pension fund is invested in the stock market. The biggest pension fund is the California State Employees Pension Fund, that's right, Pelosi's home state. I believe CalPers alone controls over $100 billion worth of stocks.

Not true at all.

In fact, most people have pension funds, 401K funds and other retirement funds invested in the stock market. This is fundamental and it is quite surprising to hear such a false statement from such a prominent person.

Many government and union employees have their pensions invested in stock.

It is unbelievable that anyone of any knowledge would say such an easily contradicted statement.

Ummm no!

I personally know a few people (not rich) (hard working) that invest and actually do reap the benefits of investing. I think some people dont' take the time to look into it and invest their money poorly.

basically....they are the only one with the money to invest other than our 401k's....most of us struggle to pay our monthly bills! We also know with the plan our government has for illegal aliens to "cash in" on social security after working only 9 quarters we must fund our 401K's no what we have to do without!
but don't give her much credit....it is also the rich that will benefit from her amnesty plan....the democrats represent the the rich & welfare people, the republicans the rich & big business.....NO ONE represents middle-class Americans and we are the ones picking up the tab ...what is wrong with this picture?

Stop the war on the middle-class...No Amnesty (by any name) Repeal the 14th Amendment
