time, day and date all on three different rows, one below the other. I have tried moving it with the little up/down arrow and it does not seem to work. Any suggestions?

Right click on the taskbar and see if the "Lock Toolbar / Unlock Toolbar" is check. If so, uncheck it. You can not resize the toolbar if it is locked. Once you have it the way you like it, you may want to "lock" the bar to keep it that way in the future.

Are you using Windows XP? In windows XP the Task Bar is locked from movement right click on it and un-tick the option that says: Lock The Task bar then you will be able to move the Task Bar. If you are still unable to move it sorry i couldn't help.

Right-click on the taskbar and click "Lock the Taskbar" if it is checked. Then you should be able to move it to the left or right so that it appears all on one line.
