As a prior military veteran myself, I agree he should follow orders. However, I have to agree with him that we shouldn't be in Iraq. We have no reason to be there other than the oil. His doing this is wrong as far as military duty is concerned. However, is it possible that his act will bring a larger awareness to the war and help the American public to unite and get our government to bring our troops home?

He is an officer in the United States Army. He joined to fight after 9/11. When he was called to do what he joined to do, he got scared and backed out. He is a disgrace to his family, Army and nation...............

I think it's the right stand.

He is not refusing to serve. He is not even refusing to serve in combat. He is refusing to serve in Iraq.

Why? because the reason he joined, the reason given for invading Iraq, was based on premeditated lies from the administration. He is correct. His "oath / contract" was obtained from him under criminally false statements and intents. He is doing the right thing morally and is willing to pay the price for calling out the administration for what it is. He is doing what the cowards in congress should have done, but didn't have the guts to do.

Frankly, I have no doubt he will be found guilty, but not because he deserves that, but because that's just the way things work. Being right legally and morally means nothing when you take on the military or government. I think his point will be made regardless, and he is indeed brave for not taking the easy way out.

We are not there for the oil. We're not taking a drop of oil out of that country. Why do people who've NEVER BEEN THERE always try to lay it out like they know what they're talking about? Quit sucking down the socialist koolaid, folks! The truth is, painful as it may be for some of you, that the "peoples' pundits" of the loony left are completely full of SH*T!

"Lieutenant" watada is a worthless, cowardly POS, and I hope they throw his sorry *** in Leavenworth for a couple of decades at hard labor.

He is somebody who put his personal political opinions as superior to his oath to the US Constitution.

What if you were in danger and some soldiers decided that we should not help you?
