I used to work in nursing homes, and it staggered me the people there, that all they had was a meager social security benefit, but they sent a lot of money to televangelists before they ended up there. Why do these televangelists help them? Are they just money grubbing con artists?

Fear.

Because fear is a powerful thing and the shysters and con artists on tv play on it. The elderly are especially fearful of what happens to them when they die and their fear is used against them to drain their wallets dry.

I've visited alot of nursing homes, I've never seen a televangelist visiting anyone.

There must be a special hell for these folks, but as long as humans are fearful and stupid, they will live in crystal palaces here on earth.

Yes, money grubbing con artists that prey on the sick and the old, (and the just plain gullible). All "in the name of God." People still think they could get to a place called heaven through t.v., and money. Sad.

Because too many elderly have nothing more to do than to sit in front of the tv & think about life after death so they get scammed by money grubbing programs. Want to save your inheritance from going to nursing homes?...Keep your elderly relatives entertained so they feel like they're living rather than waiting for death...visit them, go thru photo albums & scrap books with them, take them to church & on Sunday drives or to visit others, bring them a borrowed kitten or puppy to pet, bring a kids church/scout group in to sing & dance for them, get them involved in Sr programs, post a card shower for their b-day, read to them or teach them how to use a computer, dvd or cd player so they can listen to audio books & oldies music, take them with you, in nice weather, if you're running their errands (they'll be fine waiting in the car, using the radio, travel tv or laptop pc & they'll enjoy the change) Just keep them away from tv at home as much as possible!
