Been diagnosed with gallstones after getting pains, but specialist said he wanted to rule out something else before whipping my gall bladder out by first sending me for endoscopy. So when they'd done, there were all these different diagnosis the nurse could tick, like ulcers, but instead they ticked biopsy taken and said i have to go back to the specialist for the results. under what circumstances would they take one? you know i'm thinking cancer and bad stuff- i mean i've already been told i've got gallstones so they wouldn't take a biopsy of them... would they?

Sounds like you have a very thorough doctor! You may have had a polyp removed and the doctor wants to rule out any irregular cells, etc. Go back to your doctor to see what the results are. Even if it IS something like cancer, early detection is the key!

Biopsy's are usually taken as a precautionary measure during these procedures, all it takes is a little bit of inflamation to cause discomfort in the gall bladder. Stones can be removed with a simple procedure, so try not to worry, I'm sure the specialist will put your mind at ease. Hope this helps.

I had a biopsy with my endoscopy and there was absolutely nothing wrong. In the end they decided it was IBS. Do not be concerned - they err on the side of caution because it may be disastrous if they miss something important. Far better to do a biopsy with a negative result than not do one at all. Be glad your doctor is so careful - and try not to worry!

relies upon on what time of the day the biopsy became taken. A small biopsy taken early interior the day, can technically be processed so it incredibly is waiting for microscopy the subsequent day.each so often added "stainings" (eg. immunohistochemistry) are mandatory, which will upload an afternoon or 2 (often times some greater days). A pathologist can basically study one biopsy at a time, yet usually those with maximum cancers suspicion are on the right of the stack.

The biopsy proceeding isn't a reason by itself to get worried because it's a routine of diagnostic endoscopy. About the malignant disease probability, only your doctor can evaluate it, considering your symptoms, physical exam and further investigations. So, you should go back to the specialist, but it doesn´t mean you have cancer.

I am sure there are a number of reasons for a doctor carrying out this procedure. No point in speculating and getting yourself worked up. The waiting will seem like ages but it's probably nothing to worry about and just a precautionary measure! Take care and hope it all goes well.

Most probaby they wanted to rule out any coexistant infection of either the gall bladder or the surrounding tissues--It is good for you for you have a clear diagnosis of your condition and your treatment would be the most appropriate--thank your doctor for his thorough approach--
