All religions speak of good things like love, compassion, tolerance, etc for winning the blessing of God... but the nature of God that they preach and the practices of worship, mundane rituals like marriage etc they stipulate vary from not only religion to religion but within the various denominations of the same religions too...

But more conflicting elements among them that disturb the harmony of the society is the fact that each insist that their own perception of Godhood is the right one, their own methods of worship etc are the mandatory for the whole humanity etc and this gives rise to unnecessary bitterness - even name calling of the prophets and deities of others - defeating the very ideals of love, compassion, tolerance etc preached by the founders of the religions...

How do you perceive the prospect of bringing harmony amog the diverse Faiths, in this setting ?

Sathya Sai Thought for the day ...

"Love is light. It illumines your path and helps you reach the goal. Your journey of life will be safe and secure when you carry the light of love with you. Love is God. Live in love. Truly speaking, you are the very embodiments of love. Let the stream of love flow from one heart to another. Consider love as your life. This is your foremost duty. You may search anywhere in the world, you cannot find anything greater than love. You can conquer the whole world with the weapon of love. There is nothing that you cannot achieve with the power of love. Love is the supreme power. True human value lies in sharing and experiencing the supreme love. The power of love is unmatched. When you fill your heart with love, all people will become your brothers and sisters. You will not have enemies at all!

‘May I seek the views of our knowledgeable members of Y/A on how to perceive the scope of "Religious Harmony" in future?’ You may indeed: Most individuals of a particular faith will ‘live and let live,’ they, like I, have no dispute with the average Muslim or Sheikh or Hindu. I have no objections to other peoples beliefs, what I do not like are the individuals who use fanaticism and/or constantly badger and insist they are right on every point, and I am a Christian. Although I believe the Christian faith is the true faith, I base this on deep research and cross reference of other faith systems. However, I do not deliberately seek to cause strife through my opinion, merely too summit my point on the matter when called to do so, if I feel the situation is going to get out of hand, I will withdrew, as in my experience it then just becomes a tit-for-tat argument which serves no purpose. It is those individuals who deliberately seek to be argumentive, and/or use fanaticism too justify their ends along with the hierarchy that causes the strife among religious groups. And it is these individuals who will cause ‘disharmony within religion’ in the future. So as long as there are fanatics and argumentive individuals who insist everyone must think and believe as they do, then the scope for religious harmony does not look to promising for the future.

I don't think it is possible to put the words 'religious' and 'harmony' in the same sentence, or even next to each other...

Religion has often been a tool to obtain power, and too often, through fear and opression. Abolish religion, and chances are that people will find that they need each other to find the answers to all the questions religions often 'answers'.

Religious harmony is a contradiction in terms-harmony can't be the end result when institutions are intent on promoting their own dogma and ideology instead of seeking common ground for the betterment of humanity.

First the setting will change and then it will become acceptable to recognize all people and religions as coming from the One God who has provided all people with one Message. It was not possible until recently to cause that to come about due to lack of world communication.

There will be harmony once religious people give up their faith to accept reality - when they see that being good because its right has far more value than being good to suck up to some omniscient policeman.

Once religion is finally purged from the earth and fantasy prevails no more, then their will be harmony.

I don't see how Muslims thinking that I should be Muslim is any concern of mine. Same can be said of every religion, as long as people aren't hurting me, they can say and think anything they please.

Religious don't need to mesh. Individuals need to stop killing innocent people.
