At that size, personal preference really. I'd go for the LCD, as they're more reliable. If you find a plasma that comes with a long-term warranty, that's a good deal too.
For plasma: Panasonic PX600 range are the best
For LCD: Toshiba WLT66 is good, as are the wide variety of large-screen Samsungs. The Sharp XD1E range is becoming really popular as they have full-HD resolution.

Sorry, yet i might desire to make a correction to the previous answer. DLP and Projection TVs require gentle bulb ameliorations; LCDs and Plasma do not remember on a bulb for his or her image. Plasma TVs remember on a finite volume of gas for its image; 7-10 years later the gas may well be used up and all you will see is a sparkling demonstrate screen. LCDs get its image with the aid of employing many transistors on suited of liquid crystal crammed cells. DLPS are greater affordable of all 3, however the DLP bulb can value a competent few hundred greenbacks. actual LCDs are the main high priced of the three. i might wait next 3 hundred and sixty 5 days whilst LCDs, Plasma, and DLPs are produced in greater beneficial quantities, and get a liquid crystal demonstrate.

Really depends on the ambient lighting in the room - if you have a level of brightness in the room exceeding a reading lamp, LCD is the way to go. Low lighting ( darkened room ) is better for plasma viewing. Picture quality still defers to plasma for colour, ( better darks, crisper whites ), LCD is catching up in the larger screen configurations.

Ive got an LCD, had it for about 2 years - never had a problem with it. Im biased toward LCD, so would tell you to get one, but cant say that I can provide a decent argument as to why! I just know Ive got one, it works, and Im happy with it. More than can be said for my mates plasma which he has had nothing but bother with since day 1, and he spent thousands on it!

up to 42" lcd are far better. above this some people say plasma have a slight edge, but this seem to be rapidly changing and lcd edging ahead. if you intend gaming on it avoid plasma. the best on the market at present is the sony bravia range.

I would use LCD as plasma screens have living pieces in that die and you can end up with loads of black areas on the screen itself.
