That's a personal preference; you could get something sentimental, thats engraved; a nice bracelet, cufflinks, a watch etc.

I think a lot of people do it before the wedding on the wedding day with the best man and maid of honor doing the actual giving of the gift so the bride and groom don't see each other before the ceremony. You could also do it at the rehearsal dinner. My husband and I weren't going to exchange gifts but then when I was getting ready the morning of the wedding, one of the bridesmaids gave me a gift that was from him.

We actually gave each other a gift the night before our wedding at the rehersal dinner. I made my wife a hope chest and she got me an art print of a Civil War general that I admire. The print is hanging in our living room and the hope chest is at the foot of our bed.
(I sent her roses on the wedding day too.)

Traditionally the bride gives the groom a watch. However, not everyone does this anymore. A nice thought would be a love letter to save until you're grandparents or something similar that wouldn't be too costly. When my husband and I got married, we decided our present to eachother would be our honeymoon.

our gift to each other was our vows, and then we were going on vacation. personally i don't think a gift is really needed here. if you want to write him a card and have one of the groomsman give it to him before the wedding.

I've asked that same question before I got married. Some said they did and some said they didn't exchange gifts. My husband & I discussed it and we decided to exchange gifts.
I gave him a dual sided Dragon/Tiger ring and he gave me a diamond tennis bracelet. It was nice but not necessary.
Best wishes on your up coming wedding. May you have a sunny day and things go as you planned..

My husband and I didnt exchange gifts, mainly b/c we were already living together. BUT I think it would be best to do it at the rehersal dinner, when everyone else gets their gifts...JMO

My husband loves to build things, so just before we got married, I gave him the circular saw he had been eyeing.
