OK, I have a JVC digi video cam...model # GR-DV800U
I am trying to find a way to put a video from the camcorder straight to the computer. I have heard you need a Firewire DV wire. What kind of software do I need to use this on the computer? I need the easiest way to do this possible. LOL Is there a web site where I can get everything I need to do this? I have a 1GB memory card for the camera as well, and I can put the video on there, but not sure if I can get it from the memory card to the computer using just my USB cable.

Please HELP! LOL If you can, just give me any and all options available to me, and any experience you have had doing this! Thanks!!

SD card is a bad option. One miniDV tape can equal 8.6 GB

Here's what you need:
- JVC Camcorder and a tape with stuff recorded on it

- 6 pin to 4 pin "IEEE 1394 cable" (Known as firewire)

- A FAST PC (pentium4 at least 2.0gHZ) that is clean without spyware and resource hogging programs running in the background.

- Your PC needs to have a Firewire connection, if not, then buy a PCI card to plug that cable into it.

- Now you need to download capturing software like Pinnacle 10 or Ulead Media Studio. Very simple programs to use.

- Connect the camcorder to the PC, then start the software. Some settings in the software may be required because there are many types of devices. Remember that you are using "MS IEEE 1394" plugin for any software.

The software programs that I mention can burn DVDs, so follow their instructions.

NOTE:
If you can't get the software, Windows XP will prompt you to use their Movie-Maker software when you plug the cable into the PC. This is an option, to test your equipment, but I don't recommend using their software, due to loss of video quality. Give it a try anyhow, because you may want to use that for YouTUBE stuff, which is fine.
