Clove oil is simply alcohol by another name.

For the short term, buy some Ambesol or other oral anesthetic. Alcohol (if you are over 21) is another method, but then you have it on your breath.

Ibuprofen helps quite well. If you are an adult, 800mg is considered to be just as effective as some narcotic pain medications when it comes to dental pain.

There are pressure points on the face that can often relieve pain. Gently rub at the base of your jaw (near your neck) under the jaw line, and also about 1" above that same point. If you hit the right spot, you may feel the pain recede temporarily.

Ultimately, if you are having dental pain that doesn't subside fairly quickly, see your dentist. You may have an infected tooth at the root, or you may have a hairline crack.

Ibuprofen has always worked best for tooth pain for me, but you don't want to take too much, too often. How long before you have insurance? A lot of dentists will make payment arrangements with you, if you have a means to pay. Are you working at all? Could your parents or family help you? Sorry, I know how miserable tooth pain can be.

it may actually be sinus in which case some type of linament on the sinus areas of the cheek could make it go away. I used Watkins which has champhur in it which is an astringent worked fast and saved a dentist bill. My dentist wanted to cap a tooth said that was the problem and he would not give me a bill he wanted cash.

If it is infection then if you have some left over antibiotic that is not out of date (especially teracycline is a no if it is out of date) or the antibiotics at the feed store are just as high quality as the drug store and no prescription needed.

Infection normally causes the pain, take an oral pill like Tylenol as well get some Ambosol or oil of cloves until it calms down, then get to a dentist, if that is your choice.

Ultimately, see a dentist. In the short term, Clove oil is a pretty good anesthetic.
