there are a few sources- RS MEans construction data provide a method for breaking down each construction task into manhours.

ENR (a mcgraw hill) company also offers references for this type of estimating

there are a ton of software programs aout there that also do this but be careful- usually they come blank and you may have to fill in your own data for future calculations.

use the rule of twos- two men working two days could complete 200 units- this is a very gross estimate- for example two plumbers could install 200 feet of pipe (basically rough plumb a house) in 2 days. or they could complete fixtures for two bathrooms and a kitchen. sheetrock hangers could complete 200 lineal feet of standard height wall in two days. It doesn't work for everything but if you have a little common sense- it gives a starting point for an estimate. I would not bet my job on the results.
