Since many of our troops are killed my roadside bombings,how does the military counter that?

They can't or they will be brought up on charges of abuse or murder~ go figure!

My fathers company is working on a device that will counter the roadside bombs. It is an object that the troops will carry around with them, and it will jam all the detonator signals for the bombs.

I think if it works it will be of great help to our troops.

Well, for starters New Armor has been issued to combat Troops, Humvees are being more heavily armored, and new techniques are being developed to protect them every day.

Example. Some Soldiers carry silly string so they can spray it in a room, if it lands on a wire they can see it. If it lands on the floor all clear. Keep in mind this isn't a "DoD" method rather our Soldiers being Clever. But they are taking measures to protect our Soldiers.

We have quite a few different methods to counter IED's. All of which I am not, nor should any soldier, be willing to talk about in a public forum.

Operational Security (OPSEC) is vital to ensure that no secret information is provided to the wrong people. An old saying from WWII still applies:

"Loose lips sink ships."

They have rules that say if a car is approaching and has been told to stop, but it doesn't, then the troops can use deadly force to stop it. This has resulted in some tragedies but I really don't know what else they can do.

There are numerous methods to do this and equipment to help protect them. And if you do not know what these are - then the enemy probably does not either.
