Can Big Bird eat a dog? Oh my god! Watch out Sesame Street!
Oh, a big bird. Not the Big Bird. Most birds are fairly vegetarian. They'll eat a little meat if you give it to them, but they wouldn't kill and certainly wouldn't eat a dog. I suppose, like the other person wrote, an eagle could. But it would have to be a pretty small dog.

I saw a hawk where I live carry off a squirrel & it wasn't even a big hawk. So I would say that a very big bird could easily grab & eat a cat or dog if they weren't too large. They would make a nice meal for baby hawks & eaglets too.

Like a golden eagle vs a toy or miniature dog? Absolutely. If you look on Snopes, there's a good photo array of a big eagle having it out with a fox over a carcass and the eagle actually flips the fox over in the air.

A large carnivorous bird, such as a bird of prey, can definitely catch, kill, and eat a small dog. It's happened before.
There are also lots of scavenger birds that will happily eat from a dog carcass.

Yes. There are documented cases of vultures carrying off small dogs from their yards. In Texas, a vulture swooped down and grabbed a Chihuahua right out of its owner's arms...

i can really communicate for my own canines. even as confronted with a wounded fowl they don't look to be prepared to devour it and that is specifically because of the mass of feathers which follow canines mouth and make it uncomfortable to chew into the flesh of the fowl. My canines will cart a lifeless pheasant about and in no way favor to go away it behind yet bulk at eating it. unusual extremely as a fox will bypass out of its thanks to kill and devour a relatives fowl. perhaps my canines are too nicely fed to bother with something like a fowl. yet they do seize rabbits and squirrels and devour them, fur, tails and all. Jmo.
