You need to address this question to the Democrats, when they get done with their celebratory orgy over the installation of Pelosi as emperor...er I mean...speaker, of the house. They are the ones who started talking about the draft, supporting having the draft and then blaming it all on Bush, as per their oh-so-standard operating procedure. If there is a draft, just like the last few times, it will be instituted at Democrat instigation.
When you VOLUNTEER for the military, going to war is in the picture. That's why it is called the Military, not the Deranged Do-Gooder Corps. I agree I would be ticked if I had gotten stuck with an extended tour in Iraq, and I question their necessity, but when you are in the military all this is part of the deal.

We have been sent over to Iraq time and time again because we are needed... When our company's time is up to go over, we have to go over... Nothing can stop that... especially when you are in a really low numbered MOS, like mortuary affairs... There are only three companys that deploy over there, so we go over often, but not too much for us to handle. The draft will not be coming back any time soon because we still have people volunteering and as long as those numbers do not drop, we are good...

When will we bring the draft back? When the government is prepared to pay trillions in benefits for the lifetime of every draftee. in short, it won't happen. not as long as we can hire an army like we're doing so successfully

No, the way to keep a motivated military is for it to be all volunteer. People enlist knowing the consequences.
Only the Democrats want to reinstate the draft (i.e. Charlie Rangel's bill to do just that). Republicans don't want to force it upon anyone.

Ask the Democrats. They are the ones who keep bringing the subject up.

Jenny, the draft will NEVER be brought back, and if it is, which it won't, it will not impact you at all.
