Some religions teach the good people will be removed from the earth while the unsaved ones remain.
The Bible, however, states the exact opposite at Proverbs 2:21, 22:
"For the upright are the ones that will reside in the earth, and the blameless are the ones that will be left over in it. As regards the wicked, they will be cut off from the very earth; and as for the treacherous, they will be torn away from it."

Though there are opponents against a "rapture" because the word is not actually in the original language but in the latin version.
The Rapture is based on specific verses in the bible about Christ coming for his church as related in Thessalonians 4:16-18 According to the Lord's own word, we tell you what we who are still alive, who are left at his coming will not precede those who are sleep. The Lord himself will come down from heaven and with a loud command with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ shall rise first, After that, we who are still alive will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words. NIV
Now there are three views to "when" the rapture will occur, many have strived to prove their view. But they follow these major thoughts.
The first is called the "pre-tribulation" view which says that the rapture will occur right before the Great Tribulation which will come upon the earth. A period of 7 years 3 1/2 light tribulation the last 3 1/2 all out tribulation after which the antichrist and his forces are destroyed at Christ's 2nd coming
The second view is called "mid-tribulation" rapture in which Christ comes in the middle of the Great Tribulation.
The third view is that the rapture comes at the end of the Great Tribulation - Christ comes secretly to get his people they go up to immediately come back to earth at Christ 2nd Coming
I myself favor the first view that Christ comes for his church before the beginning of the Great Tribulation. The other two views do not make sense.
Hope all this helps

I Thessalonians 4:15-17 describes it in the best detail. The word "rapture" while not found in the Bible, is used to describe this event, for it comes from the Greek word "rapare" meaning to "take away suddenly, snatch out, or jerk violently" which is a rather accurate rendition of the "in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye" thought describing the Church's sudden departure!

The Rapture is a fairly new teaching. Some base it on the scripture in Revelation, where God tells the two witnesses, to come on up here, and the two witnesses were taken to the Throne.

Definition: The belief that faithful Christians will be bodily caught up from the earth, suddenly taken out of the world, to be united with the Lord “in the air.” The word “rapture” is understood by some persons, but not by all, to be the meaning of 1 Thessalonians 4:17. The word “rapture” does not occur in the inspired Scriptures.
Who are the ones that will be ‘caught up in the clouds,’ as stated at 1 Thessalonians 4:17?
Verse 15 explains that they are faithful ones “who are left until the coming of the Lord,” that is, they are still living at the time of Christ’s coming. Will they ever die? According to Romans 6:3-5 and 1 Corinthians 15:35, 36, 44 , they must die before they can gain heavenly life. But there is no need for them to remain in the death state awaiting Christ’s return. They will instantly be “caught up,” “in the twinkling of an eye,” to be with the Lord.—1 Cor. 15:51, 52, RS; also Revelation 14:13.
Is it possible for Christians to be taken to heaven with their physical bodies?
1 Cor. 15:50, RS: “I tell you this, brethren: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.”
Will all faithful Christians be taken miraculously from the earth by the Lord before the great tribulation?
Matt. 24:21, 22: “Then there will be great tribulation such as has not occurred since the world’s beginning until now, no, nor will occur again. In fact, unless those days were cut short, no flesh would be saved; but on account of the chosen ones those days will be cut short.” (This does not say that “the chosen ones” will all have been taken to heaven before the great tribulation, does it? Rather, it holds out the prospect to them, along with associates in the flesh, of surviving that great tribulation on earth.)
Rev. 7:9, 10, 14, RS: “After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no man could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, ‘Salvation belongs to our God who sits upon the throne, and to the Lamb!’ . . . ‘These are they who have come out of the great tribulation.’” (To “come out” of something a person must go into it or be in it. So this great multitude must be persons who actually experience the great tribulation and come out of it as survivors.)
The fact that Jesus said the meek will inherit the earth, proves that the idea of a rapture of all Christians before Armegeddon, is completely false and is not a Biblical teaching.

This is the sudden, secret, going away of the bride of Christ to meet the Lord in the air for the wedding supper. This will be just before the reign of the beast which comes out of the sea in the book of revelations
1Th 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
1Th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
1Th 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
1Co 15:51 Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
1Co 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
1Co 15:53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

It is the term used to describe the event that is spoken of in First Thessalonians 4:13-17, "But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.
For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord."

The word Rapure is not actually in the bible, That is a term we use thou, In the bible it is referred as the 1st resurrection or the translation of the saints, Or to be caught up into the air to meet our Lord. It is where are Christians, that is dead from the time of Jesus up till then will rise from their graves & be changed, & we which are alive & remain will also be changed & caught up together with the dead in christ to the Marriage supper, Many religions believes that we will spend eternallty in heaven, that is not true, we will come back with Christ, Rev. 19:14 to rule & reign on this earth for 1000 yrs. & after the 1000 yrs. we then go over into the eternal age.

When Jesus comes back to earth and saves all the people who have accepted him. Then, as for all the other people who do not believe in him, or havent publicly accepted him, they will be left on earth while many bad things happen to the world. Jesus will come back again and give people a second chance to accept him. If they dont, they will be left behind
