ther is a cashier and a doorkeeper. they are taken to coart as eye witness to an attempt of robery.
the cashier says:there was no one else in the bank.the thief took the money and ran the guard triped him and overpowered him.IT WAS 5:30.
it was past closing time.

both of them took a lie detector test and they found they were telling the truth.how can this he possible.
my teacher gave me three hints they are
1.the clock was digital
2.what is the other way of saying 5:30
3.what is the other way of saying 10 to six

It's kind of possible because (1) money and time are count in different unit-- which means it was the cashier make a simple mistake (2) the digital clock is broken-- the number 3 and the number 1 looks similar if you remove the three verticles from the number 3 on digital clock (3) the thief moves slower than the cashier and the door-keeper--then what's the point to steal the money from the bank....

One of the LEDs of the first digit of the minute part of the digital clock is not working. So 5:30 can be taken as 5:50. So they both are right.

The clock is kinda broken, the two lines that seperates the '3' and the '5' on a digital clock was flashing so one saw it as '5:30' while another saw it as '5:50'

Someone was confused and when the cashier said it was "half past five" and thought there were 100 minutes in an hour (kinda like 100 cents in a dollar) instead of 60 minutes?

the clock was missing the two side bars on one of the minute numbers hence one of them thoght it was a 3 and the other thought it was a 5!!
