First, get him to a vet for dental care! Then you can use 'doggy' toothpaste (yes, animals' teeth need brushing, too!) Best way to brush Fido's teeth is to use commercial dog toothpaste (available at any pet store, feed and grain store or a vet) on a gauze pad and 'brush. Your dog will like the beefy taste and get used to your hands in his mouth if you do this every day. There are also charcoal formula tablets for breath problems in animals. It's a good idea to see the vet before you try any preparations,tho- there are illnesses that can make a dog's breath smell bad. Good luck!

Milk Bones!! Trust me they help, unless, the bad breath is coming from bad teeth. I'd take the dog to the vet to make sure it's teeth are in good shape and healthy. If everything is fine, get milk bones. It helped my dogs breath!

i give my dog doggie treats on a regular basis. this is good for his teeth and gums, which also improves his breath.
doing this regularly, i've never had to get the dog's teeth cleaned, either by the vet or by doing it myslef with doggie toothpaste. but these things also improve the breath if it's in such bad shape.

if you go to a local pet store, they will most likely have treats or bones that are meant for bad breath and teeth. 'breath busters' are good and so are any of the 'dentabone' products. i have given my dog the dentabones since she was a pup and people still comment on how nice her teeth are considering the things she eats when outside. she likes snakes, trees, mud, etc. german shepherd

I give my dog greenies. Its a kind of green bone that really helps to freshen my dogs breath. I give it to my dog daily. Depending on how much your dog wants it, you should buy them in a whole packet-which has about 12 sticks and chop them up into 3 or 4 pieces. I give one piece to my dog everyday after his dinner or as treats. It really works.you should store them in an air tight container to prevent them from getting soft.

Get his teeth cleaned- and yes, there really is a toothpaste you can use on dogs, if you know how. And give him Milk Bones to keep his teeth clean. And feed him a good quality dog food.
Good luck!

Although you could brush his teeth and give him the dog mints, you could also feed him carrots. That is a natural thing that works. Parsley works too if you can get him to eat it. My dog will eat anything, so we can give him whatever we have on hand.
