If you go to the police its more than likely they will arrest you on the spot, depending on the seriousness of what you have done they have the power to detain you until a court date to appear.9 times out of 10 if its only a speeding fine and not murder they will bail you until your court appearance. Personally i would get in touch with your local magistrates ask for the dept for payment of fines,[make sure you have your ref no that is on the court appearance letter]explain why you never attended ask if it is possible to pay in instalments, make an agreement with them they will send you payment slips so that you can make monthly repayments at there chosen bank. When they are happy with the agreement set up between the two of you they will lift all warrants that are active. hope this helps.Good luck.

If you know you have unpaid fines, the best thing would be to contact the Court which you were supposed to pay - they will be able to tell you if a warrant was issued in respect of the fines. If there is not a warrant out, start paying the fines to prevent one being issued in the future. I have seen people getting short prison sentences for repeated failure to pay fines.
If you think a warrant was issued for some other reason, contact your local police station, as there will be a record on the police computer system. Either way, do not wait until someone knocks on your door as you may be held in the cells overnight to appear in the Court the next working day (assuming you are in the UK). If you are arrested on a warrant for a criminal offence, you may have problems getting bail.

There is a big difference. IF you have refused to pay the fines AND the JUDGMENT against you specifies that 'a fine has been ordered WITH or WITHOUT Jail time in lieu of the payment of the fine'. If you were ordered say $500 or 2 months in jail THEN a WARRANT will issue for your arrest. If you simply are too broke to pay, You can probably call your Sheriff and find out. There may be a fine-option program that you can do community service instead. Make sure that you try to comply with the conditions they give you though, because that is another question :)

Go to your local police station, they can check on the Police National Computer (PNC) if there are any warrants out for your arrest. You can go to the courts to pay any unpaid fines. I hope this helps.

Call the local court. They like when people take care of warrants by mailing in the checks or taking care of their warrants without having the cops being called.

to the best of my knowledge courts will not except payment if a warrent has been issued. Go to your local Police station on Saturday morning, they will let you know your position re Warrent. you might get locked up, I doubt it they will, probably give you a few days to raise funds for your fine.
The Police ( If arrested) would have to keep you at there office till Monday. They would have to wait on you hand and foot with Tea fish & chips etc, and they don't want that chore. plus your fine would be greatly reduced because of you being locked up.
After all you will have to face it sometime, be a man!! go get it over with, and learn from you mistake.

If there was a warrant out for your arrest you would probably have been arrested by now - to pay unpaid fines, pay the organisation you owe the money too. (I'm no expert on this, I'm just using logic, so don't take my word for it).

Just walk up to a police officer and ask. "Is there a warrant out for my arrest?" He'll handcuff you, lock you in his car, and look into the matter.

Yes, in that situation you are completely within your rights to call the police. But I would be willing to bet that he would be long gone before they actually got around to clearing the call.
