thoughts of attraction or thoughts of wondering if friendship is what the other one wants..?

obviously there are some qualities that draw two people to a friendship..but have you ever wondered why the other one wants to be close with you? can there really be friendship without having this thought?

Absolutely! I have male friends, and female friends. You're correct about the qualities that draw people together. You like the same music, or books etc. You might even find that you agree politically or frequent the same places.

The whole idea of being a friend though isn't about "do you like the same things". It's "is do you like one another". One of my guy friends and I are so completely opposite in nearly all things. Yet I would do anything for him and I know he would do the same for me.

And yes, sure, sometimes a conversation might happen about getting "closer". After all, a best friend makes a great life partner. The conversation would be important on many levels. Wouldn't you want to know if one of your very good friends just might be "the one"?

A good friend of mine did marry her best friend. They were friends through college, he was interested in someone else as was she. After a few years they started "dating" and not long after, married.

Being a friend is so important in relationships whether you have those "thoughts" or not. Whether you go beyond the boundaries of friendship or not. A good friend, is someone you will keep forever, no matter where they are.

Definitely yes, I have a male friend, we were neighbors, the same age and went all thru high school together. We use to get together at least once a month when I lived closer, now that I have moved we talk on the phone at least once a month . We have never crossed the line. In fact, one night we went out and I did not want to drive home due to too much alcohol and we wound in sleeping in the same bed acting like two girls at a pajama party. No he is not gay, just a good , good decent male friend who I love like a brother.

Yes, it's possible for the other person to be so much a part of one that their body is treated as part of one's own body. The bits that would otherwise be sexually attractive and are attractive in other persons of the opposite sex are not attractive in the friend because they're like one's own body. Lust isn't there.

I have always been reserved about men and women being just friends without other feelings but,yes sometimes its possible,as I am friends with two of my ex's who just made better friends than lovers,I also have other males I am just friends with seeing as I don't hang around much females.

My boyfriend called me yesterday(and we have a 100% honest relationship)and said his female friend offered to take him to the airport today if he slept over last night...Um ok that send of an alarm bell or two....He told her he couldn't and you could tell that's not what she wanted to hear...He's no longer friends with her.

Sometimes the other person wants to be more than friends to insecurity issues,or many other things...But again, yes it's quite possible to have just a friendship without having a "special feeling" for them....
