Locking jaws are a myth.

They do not have a different "jaw structure" than any other breed, and this has been scientifically proven...ask a vet...

I think fun dog.
Pit bull or Staffordshire Bull Terrier are a popular breed with stupid people. Drug dealer gangs or people who use them for fighting. They make them mean . That is why you should always go to a breeder who cares about the breed and breeds them for show or pet quality. I have met more mean Labs then I have pit bulls. The media just points to pits bulls so they are in the public eye more. Doberman pincher use to be use the same way the pit is being used now they are not feared like they use to be. ALL DOGS are a reflection of they people who own them. I think the dog is showing the hate in this world and peoples fear & ignorance. WAKE UP EVERYONE!!!! Please look at the world around you animals are not the enemy. We are. That is my option. Agree with it or not.

Terrier! I won't ever own one again, lol. I LOVE pit bulls and most of the negative things people say about them, don't really know. But they are terriers. And it is true for MOST of the pit bulls that I've had or been around, they are SOOO hyper active and full of energy! It takes a lot of energy to have a terrier of any kind. I've Jack Russells (these are the WORST of the terrier breeds), rat terriers, and pit bull terriers. They can be very good dogs, but they can be a handful! I would keep that in mind before getting a pit bull.

Betrayal. Bad breeders. Misunderstood.

It sounds off, but these are the words that come to my mind.

Let's start with Betrayal. People are betraying the breed. They mistreat, misuse and misbreed the Pit's, defaming their characters.

People are inbreeding them, raising them to fight or raising them in very poor conditions, and WE choose to blame the dogs? It's ridicilous.

Yes, In early breeding Pit Bulls like many others were made for fighting. They were war dogs, aither for use in the military or home protection. SO WERE PUGS. But you don't see anyone wanting to create breed specific bans on them. People stopped using Pugs as well as many other types of war dogs for violent purposes, but they continue to use Pit's for it. I don't understand.

For anyone that knows, Pits can be amazing gaurdians. They can make great friends and gaurdians if they are treated correctly. Instead people toss them around like they are nothing but old rags, and trade them as if they were baseball cards. PIT's are one family dogs. They are not supposed to be moved from house to house. If as a child you were forced to keep moving from family to family, I am sure you would be a little upset as well, not to mention confused.

I think we should put bans on the people who mistreat these dogs, not the other way around. And think of it, there are probably millions of dog bites a year, but how often its it turned into a giant media spectacle when someone gets bit by a Huskey? What, no one realized there were on the top 10 agressive dog list?

What people do to pitbulls is the equivent of racism. Laws dealing with “pit bulls” also state any mix of the 3 breeds (American Pitbull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, and Bull Terrier) AND the **MOST important line, anything that has the characteristics or appearance of these breeds.** There are 20+ breeds that are commonly mistakenly identified as “pit bull” dogs. Don't believe it?

I've included some additionaol website in my source list for you to check out about Breed Specific Law, the Pit's it affects, and what it means for other dogs.

And BY the WAY: Pit's jaws don't lock. It's a Myth. They do have an extreme amount of pressure in their jows, by thay don't lock, by any means. And they don't have any extra rows of teeth. Ask your vet.

Eight pit bull terriers have been seized during police raids in St Helens and Widnes.

The raids followed the death of Ellie Lawrenson, five, who was mauled.

Misused! A negative. Sad but true.

However, my brother-in-law has 3 pit bulls. Raised in a loving family, and well taken care of. They are the biggest babies I have ever seen. Not a bit of mean bone in them.

I think, I dont generally trust them but they can be nice.. My friends brother has a pitbull who thinks shes a lap dog. shes the sweetest thing on earth..But then theres reports on tv that the family pitbull, sweetest thing ever, just decided to take a bite out of a childs face one day. The reason pitbulls have such a bad rep is unlike other dogs, when they bite, their jaw locks. so the damage done is 100x worse.

Or...you could ask the people who had to break their jaws to get the dog off of them....

Often I see them while walking my dogs so I think "Steer clear" because my dogs have been attacked by one. Luckily no injuries.

I'm with Slappy on this one, "Dog of choice for criminals and losers." They should be banned. Hey if insurance companies wont even insure houses with one because they are too dangerous they dont belong in our communities period!
And if I see one attack my dog again I will take off out my key ring razor blade and go straight for its juggler.

Strong jaws.
A dog that by instinct does not bite and retreat, but hangs on until wacked with a 4 x 4.

I know that it comes down to training, but I think of "fighting" and "baby maulers". I don't want a dog that's so much stronger than me - that if it ever turned, that I wouldn't be able to stop it short of killing it.

Get a beagle.
