My son who is in the middle of his grade 2 year just went back to school this morning (yay this holiday seemed too long lol). The morning went very well he actually woke up happy and co-operative. He is a bright boy for his age. After we left the house he decided to pull a fit and stand in the middle of the sidewalk just not moving. 5 minutes to the bell (we live only a few minutes away). I tried to stay nice about what he was doing saying things like lets go and see all the friends you have missed. Nothing worked. I finally picked him up and layed him across my arms oh yeah while i am pushing my double stoller with my daughters in it. I brought him a few steps from the crossing guard hoping he would walk on his own the crossing guard stopped all the cars and he to stay stearnly lets go! then my son finally went! I dont know what my sons problem was and still dont quite know he was mumbling something about arguing. I know he will forget everything by the time i pick him up after school

Ask him about it today. Ask him if there is something at school that he's worried about or scared of. Believe it or not many kids act this way merely because of a fear in school. Perhaps he's being bullied? Perhaps he's been in trouble? You never know. He might have just been nervous. Either way talk to him about it--even if he doesn't admit to being afraid or worried--make sure you let him know that was unacceptable behavior. I'm sure he won't have a problem tommorrow if you just listen to him today. Best of Luck!

He has probably just realised that school holidays are over and it's back to not being home all day- give him a few days to settle back down and he'll be fine.
If it continues, chat with his teacher to see if (s)he can see any signs as to why he wouldn't want to be in school.

You did the right thing!
