Mercy killing is still murder. No matter how much the person thinks they need it.

There is no such thing as a mercy killing. That name was only made up because it made the person doing the killing to feel better. Think about, all you're doing is ending a life to make yourself happy. You just murdered your mom, father, lover, because you can't take their illness or old age. You do with drugs or you do it slowly with starvation and no air, but what it boils down is that you just MURDERED someone you love. Calling it a "Mercy Killing" won't hide that fact.
Can you honestly look at your mom, dad, sibling, or SO and say, "If it comes to it, I can kill you." A Mercy killing is just that, Murdering the ones you love for your own comfort. Despite what some say, "If I were sick, I'd want you to kill me," they never really feel like that when the time comes.

According to Islam, mercy killing or euthanasia is still a murder even if consented by the patient. If consented by the patient, it is a suicide and suicide is a grave sin in Islam.
God knows best

you should concede..
suffering and/or pleasure does not necessarily end when one dies, but opportunity to follow God in this life does
additionally in the Netherlands mercy killing became legal about 3 decades ago and now the patient doesnt even choose, about 3 times a day a doctor ends a patient life by the doctors choice...
perhaps they need more rooms and he picks the patients with the 'least quality of life' In the end this is NOT an improvement or benefit to people to disvalue life like this
you are on stronger grounds in terms of a person choosing to fight a dissease more agressively or less agressively... like to shoose chemo or not...

For a sick or seriously injured animal, yes.
For humans, no, never! That is putting into the hands of another person the decision of whether your life still has value.
A very sick or injured person can be maintained without pain to the person.
Should it become legal to allow another person to decide someones life should be ended, what that will lead to is MURDER!

Here in the USA, when the time comes, we have the right to end our pet's life humanly and with dignity. But we don't have that same basic right for human life.
I believe that when the time comes, a person should have the right to humanly end their life rather than suffer in agony.
But here's the kicker, I don't believe that a doctor should have any right to end a human life. Physicians are for healing the sick, not terminating life.
Good luck with your debate.

Have you ever seen a terminal cancer patient screaming in agony despite large doses of narcotics and begging to die. I have seen too many of them. Euthanasia would be a Christian mercy.

Well, let's see...
If I had an inoperable brain tumor that caused me endless pain and grief, and the only thing to subside the pain was constant pain killers...
I'd rather just be dead.
