when is it approriate for me, 23 a guy, to hang out or be seen shirtless around my rooommate? (who is 22 a guy too)

I'm not sure where you're from, but in America it's totally normal for 2 guys to hang out with out shirts on. Think beach, gym, very hot day with out air conditioning. All these are good reasons to take off your shirt.

I'd say a three-month minimum of knowing your current roommate well (this means, if you've known him for quite a while before being roommates, this counts). This also depends a good deal on your roommate though, too.
Some guys won't care if you're shirtless (regardless of how long they've know you) while other will always be a bit uncomfortable (how they were raised, culture, etc.).
So, when you go shirtless one day (walking back to your room for a shirt, shower, etc.) just ask nicely if he's comfortable with you being shirtless.

As soon as you move in together. Even if he were gay and you are straight. I don't think seeing you shirtless is going to unleash a wild sexual beast in him. I'm sure he's seen it all before.
I see shirtless guys all the time. It's like seeing a girls legs, sure, some people get excited over them, but it's nothing new.

I think it depends on how informal you guys are with each other. I don't think it's a problem for you to walk from one place to another without a shirt...the shower, to grab a clean shirt from the dryer, etc. but if you guys aren't tight, then I would say a shirt will always be in order.

Whenever you want. It's your house. Make yourself at home. I think it's much more odd to be concerned about it, than it is to just do it.

it sure is appropriate....i used to be topless in my home with my homie around..lol
but it depends on ur region though...cultural matters
and it doesn't really matter when...just as long ur relationship with him is cool
