I'm sorry but why is this a stitch up?

Local authority taxes used to be based on rental values. People complained.

So the system was changed so that the contributions related to the services used. This was the community charge, or poll tax. People complained again.

The next try was based on the resale value of the house.People didn't moan so much so this system has been retained.

If you didn't like the system why didn't you complain when it was introduced (by the previous Conservative government, by the way)?

Inprovements to a house increase its resale value. This is a commercial fact and nothing to do with the government. Providing the revaluation is carried out correctly then the government does not increase the tax take overall.

Most of what brown does is a stitch up but what specific tax are you referring to ?y

i think no matter who is in power the goverment will tax us to the hilt.
all we do in this country is mone but do nothing to change the way we are taxed it is just too much
