NY: Well, I'm an Irish catholic from NY, and I grew up in a heavily populated I-talian Neighborhood, my wife is 1/2 Irish, 1/2 I-talian, we mostly always have on hand Tomato sauce, meat sauce, marinara sauce, hot sauce for meats and chicken. We use good quality olive oil flashed with garlic in a pan very quickly, then strained, we add fresh squeezed lemon juice, salt, fresh cracked black pepper, and use this sauce pretty much for all veggies, as well as chicken and fish. Locatelli Romano cheese is always on hand to sprinkle on veggies, etc.

*Things that will earn you a broken hand if you bring, or do it in this house:

*
precut garlic in a jar FRESH ONLY

Anything less than "REAL MAPLE SYRUP"

Putting Ketchup on a steak

Cooking a steak on a propane grill- CHARCOAL ONLY !

anything less than *Locatelli brand Romano cheese

Canned veggies FRESH ONLY

using canned clams for "Linguine and white clam sauce" NO EXCUSES !, we live on Long Island, there's a clam every 4 feet !

Using a wine that's cheap for "Linguine and white clam sauce"

Hot sauce, Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce, ketchup (catsup for you sticklers), Dijon mustard, Worchestire sauce, tomatoe sauce for sketties (spaghetti), and some alfredo sauce. Of course you gotta have gravy, but I usually make my own and don't buy it.

Is that what you mean?
