do lots of mouthwash swishing, the hole is probably just a little irritated. it's probably healed after 3 months, seeing as the tongue will heal faster than most other piercings because it's through muscle rather than cartilage or skin. might want to play with it a little less until the irritation goes away, also.

It could be because you play with it too much or the bottom bead is too large, thus rubbing on your tongue web (that strip of skin under your tongue) causing the redness you're describing. Try downsizing the bead if you can (I think mine is about 4mm; large beads tend to cause tooth and gum problems anyway, so it's best to keep things as small as possible) and try to resist playing with it, as hard as that is. If this doesn't help, I suggest seeking a professional's advice; go to your piercing shop and see if they have an answer for you.
However, if it does turn out to be infected, or if you just want to be on the safe side, then you can do warm sea salt water rinses. Do not use Listerine or any mouth wash that contains Alcohol. Alcohol burns away new skin cells necessary for healing. Do not use any peroxide products for the same reason. Do not remove the barbell. If there is an infection, letting it close would trap it, causing an abscess and would make things much worse. For the solution you need natural sea salt, which you should be able to get at your local grocery store, however, do NOT use table salt or epsom salt! Those salts can be damaging to your piercing. Use 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt for every one cup of warm or hot (depending on what temperature you can stand) water. Rinse your mouth with this solution at least twice a day for a week or so. If it's not better after one week, go see your piercer.

Actually the mouth and the nether region down south are the quickest healing parts in your body. Having been down the whole tongue ring path, I know that you should NEVER play with your tongue ring. I know, it's fun and cool. But it pulls on your tongue in an unnatural way. Think about it. You're pulling on your tongue from the inside. Why wouldn't it be irritated?
You're actually better off removing it. I had to take mine out when it caused severe damage to my gums behind my bottom teeth. Basically repetitive strikes against the back of your teeth (when talking or eating - can't control it) will cause the gums to break down and separate from your teeth. I'm having to have a bone graft because my gums wore down and took the bone with it. Not fun and definitely not cheap.

Tongue rings take longer to heal than other piercings. The only thing you can do, other than taking the ring out and letting it close, is rinse your mouth out after everytime you eat, drink, smoke with mouthwash. I've had my tongue done for awhile and it's been irritated a few times. Sometimes it depends on how much you play with it too. You might want to cut down on that too.

TONGUE ring heals in 2 months, feels healed in like all week and a nil.5, and this is merely about not achievable to get an infection. abdomen ring takes as a lot as a year to heal and may want to get contaminated many times because of clothing. i might want to assert abdomen because it's going to in all likelihood be your first make it something hidden. I easily have both. were given the tummy first, merely about were given contaminated because I placed on my pants to my bellybutton and it rubbed hostile to it till eventually i finished. abdomen hurts really extra yet both fairly a lot do not damage in any respect.

Tongue rings generally take much longer to heal than most piercings, mostly because they're constantly being flushed with bacteria. 3 months is on the short side of healed. If you don't already, carry a bottle of listerine with you where ever you go and use it often. (Note, you can use it too much and create another problem entirely.) Buy a bottle of peroxide gel and use that once a day, preferrably when you wake up. Otherwise, keep fiddling with it to a minimum, because the more you mess with it, the longer it will take to heal. (Includes biting your tongue when you eat-- OW!) Be patient. Mine felt like it would take forever, and I nearly took it out for that reason.

i just posted a question myself about my tounge ring i've had mine for almost 6 years and i remember it being very swollen and sore for about 2 days but not into the 3 month range u may have an infection i would consider talking to the person that pierced it they may have a better solution to that because if its sore still there's a chance it is indeed infected.
