one is accused of involving in criminal conspiracy,cheating and misappropriations in a staff society of a bank in chennai,along with 3 others in 1985 for Rs3 laks.which he had pleaded not guilty..first accused died 5 yrs back.the case is not at all proceeding even as the above man obtained an order from high court,chennai ordering this subordinate court to finish the case within 3 months.this was 3years back.either the court or the prosecution not bothered about the case.which is being posted to next month or after few months without reason. the man is now 60.and the bank in which he was employed who had earlier suspended him during 1987,has relieved him from service due to age of retirement.he was only a honorary office bearer in the staff society.all he wants to know is whether he could apply for a passport,? will he get it ?is there any rule which could state the period of limit for a case like this? mainly will he get the passport ?

Obviously the proper and best course for you to follow is to resolve this charge. Hire legal counsel and then get your lawyer to approach the prosecutor requesting dismissal. If that doesn't work, your lawyer would file a motion to dismiss the case on your behalf.

Meanwhile, if you are not convicted of a crime and of there is no arrest warrant out for you, what is to prohibit you from obtaining a passport in the normal way?

You've been living with this for 22 years. It is time to get expert legal help and get this burden off your shoulders.

You may get a passport immediately but after thorough police checking etc. Only problems is country for which you need to apply VISA may not give the Visa in time.

If you are not a criminal all the best. Otherwise be there where you are dont disturb other

If a criminal case is pending in the court against him he is not eligible for applying for a passport. May try other sources for a passport and try visa to a country which allows access to such people.

my passport photo is about 6 years old and i had really long hair then - im not sure which crime id have commited but i do look a bit shifty
