Yes, you have a problem. Why do you let someone else control you? Why not think for yourself? Why do you feel the need to post your faith on line? What was lacking in your life to make you the way you are?

I think you could say anything that stops you from thinking independently and from examining your own beliefs is a mental problem.

If you believe in a divine revelation, with the truth laid down in a holy book, then you can't examine that belief or change it in any way.

Imagine if we had a debate about morality and I argued against the christian point of view. Imagine that you could not find a good argument in defence of the christian point of view. What would you do? You would have to say something like: "The bible says blah blah, so that is what I believe. I don't know why God says that, but I accept his supreme wisdom." So a rational debate between me and you would collapse.

So yes, I think religion is a mental problem.

I'm not trying to knock your beliefs or anything like that, by the way. I don't know if god does not exist, I just prefer to assume he doesn't. Because I feel people should be responsible for their own actions and ideas.

No, I do not think people who believe in one religion or another are nuts. I do think that many people blindly follow religion without taking to time to explore the possibilities and see if there is something else that makes more sense.

I totally respect people and their beliefs. I have greater respect if you've come to those beliefs by personal exploration and questioning. But the existence (or lack there of) God can not be proven so there is no way to know who's beliefs are wright and who's are wrong.

Well, I'm not an atheist, I don't however believe in religion or churches. I think that faith is a personal thing. I believe that Churches are as corrupt as any other organized business and that they take advantage of those who feel they are getting closer to God by attending, tithing, etc. Whatever makes you happy is fine with me.

I'm sorry I am NOT an atheist or agnostic, I am however a Christian and I must respond....To open questions like this.........Separation of the word Religion and Christian is in order.
To sincerely answer your question NO! I don't think they are nuts! Just very misinformed. Christians work hard at trying to understand some religious practices so that they are better equipped in what to pray for these people.
I hope my answer helps.
God Bless You for asking.

i agree w/ all the other atheist's views about u being nuts. i just don't understand how ppl w/ religions are so weak that they need some made up father figure to help them out. imaginary friends are weird for adults. if u need to like vent or something, don't talk to "god", get a diary or something. or a real friend. or if u need to believe that we were all created by god, that's just pointless. who cares. its one of those ?s ur really not gonna know for sure, like what happens after u die. NO ONE knows that. its just something that's gonna happen and u shouldn't fear it or fear living and live the way the ****** nuts that invented the religion to control the masses wants u to live. yeah.

Atheist here - I don't mind if you believe in a higher power if it makes you a better person.

However, if you use religion to justify putting others down, or to feel superior yourself, however, then I think you have a problem. If you try to push your religion on others, especially me, we're gonna have a problem, too.

No just that one question in your life is answered for you. The real concept is not do you believe in God or not , but how you live your life, and how you treat others. This is what is really important.
