I wish it wasn't so late so I could call my mum... She's two ragdoll cats. One is a kitten and one is three years old now. The older cat is always clean. Cats are very fussy and very clean animals... Your cat will learn to clean and groom itself carefully sooner than you know. Clean the tray out as often as you can. He'll eventually grow out of it - not fun in the meantime though...

There's really no way to keep him from stepping in his poo. However, you can trim his fur a bit. If you haven't trimmed it as much as this, give it a try. Use trimmers/clippers, not scissors using a #10 blade. This will get it short but not down to the skin. Trim around his butt about an inch all the way around. On his feet, trim the hair between his toes short enough to be level with his pads. You don't want to trim between his toes because it will be real itchy for him. Hopefully as he grows older and more agile, he won't step in it so much. And please, can I add? Please brush him daily! I had a kitten in the hospital last week that I had to shave down because his hair was matted to his skin!

i actually have a 1 year old ragdoll cat and he grew out of stepping in it one of the reasons it gets stuck to his butt for us was we were feeding him wet cat food we changed to dry cat food and that was resolved bring your kitten to the groomer 1 time every 3 weeks that will cut down your 30 Min's a day cleaning him and brush him 2-4 times a day that will get rid of the mats also to get him to stop stepping in it clean out his litter box once a day
i hope this helped

My Mia is a ragdoll. I love them they are so darn smart. You will need to invest in a very good brush and brush you little darling every day They get used to the grooming, they even look forward to it. Mia get real excited whenever she sees the brush in the morning brushing is part of our morning routine. You could take him to a groomer and get a lions cut. It lasts for several months. Although it is expensive $80.00 Where I live. You can give him a little trim your self. Don't worry they get used to all the fuss after a short while. It does take a fair amount of time per day in grooming but it is also a bonding time for you and your kitten.

You MIGHT find them at that price at a breed rescue group (google it) or contact some breeders and see if you can adopt and ADULT for that price. You won't find a kitten for under $600. If you find any, it would be an adult from the above places. And if you do find a "breeder" who is selling kittens that cheap, they are either sick, not the "breed", or a backyard breeder/mill trying to get rid of the kittens.

I would advise a change in the litter. Sounds like you have the kind that clumps easily. Ragdolls are so cute, another few weeks and you will not have this problem.

Gee, Ragdolls are known for being meticulous cleaners, mine is. I think you need to help him in the litter box for a while, to teach him to cover the poo right away. Also, his poo might be too soft, usually cats' stuff is on the dry side. Maybe change his food.
