venus is not based on the planet. venus quite simply is the goddess of love. there is no reason.

Because the Greeks were snobs and associated love with beauty. Since Aphrodite was the prettiest, she was given the title of "Godess of Love."

asking this Qus is like asking why do we call the SUN, SUN?! simple...because some1 said so. has any1 in this time been in the old greek times? answer is NO...whatever the writer says we acknowledge, how beautiful or how goddess she is, only GOD knows. unless you can go back in time to ask Venus, than only you will know the answer. my 2cents worth
