Heart excercise. I am keen to strengthen my heart as it is not pumping too well these days and have to take water tablets. Does anyone know of any safe excercises. My doctor has said it is okay for me to do cardio, but I do not know the appropriate excercises.

I am also overweight by some three stones and am trying hard to lose this excess weight. I have a treadmill which I have started using each day, but I need to supplement this with cardio.

I look forward to suggestions from the keep fit experts please. Thank you very much.

Cardio is, as stated earlier, is exercise which raises the heartbeat.

Any form of exercise that gets your heart pumping harder is good. Walking at a good pace, walking up stairs is excellent, light jogging, rowing.

If you are unable to get out much, or would prefer to do exercise in the privacy of your home, why not buy a tape for aerobics? There are some tremendous aerobic tapes available and they are all good cardio workouts.

Working the treadmill is excellent, but if you can do extra then do it, but don't overdo things. Start slowly and then gradually increase the amount of time.

If you are in a relationship an excellent cardio workout is sex. Think of the benefits both of you will receive. :)

Well lucky for you there are two types of cardio: High Intensity and Low Intensity. HIhg Intensity is over in about 10-45 minutes while low intensity is over in over 45 minutes.
Some Low intensity cardio would be Swimming, Tennis, Easy Plain Biking. Find something you enjoy that you feel you can do.

If your doctor has no aversion to you walking, if you can walk a mile (5,280 feet) in 17 minutes or less is very good cardiovascular exercise and does not put much of a strain on your joints like jogging,...the faster you can walk it, the better your workout!
good luck

Raising your BPM for 20-30 minutes a day is considered cardio. You can achieve this on your treadmill, a stationary bike, running.. etc.

Good luck!
