Make sure that you are not on the Webb and then deinstall Norton completely. Then reinstall with the disc as before. You will then be invited to go on line to download the whole package. When this is done you will/should get the whole year from the download date. I have done this twice at the renewal time and this way I did not pay for the subsequent year. A loop hole in their system which hopefully hasn,t yet been closed. Best of luck.

because you have only a crap 30 day trial copy. pc manufacturers do this all the time. they get paid by norton, who assumes you will now pay $40 for the annual virus update service.
norton works fine for av. but it wants to take over your computer and it uses ten times the resources of a FREE av app like AVG, which is just as good as norton, and did i say free?
you can get it at
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/lng/us/tpl/v5
if you insist on paying, kaspersky is the best of the av apps, same price as norton. nod is also good but has an annoying interface.
if connected to the web by broadband, and if you don't already have a hardware firewall built into your wireless router, you need a firewall. zone alarm is free and excellent. the windows firewall is worse than useless.

Any type of software of this type needs updating from a central database each week, or more often.
My advice is that Norton will always be out of date though, I'm an IT professional and only use AVG available free from grisoft, with Wondows firewall, Adaware and Spybot - and I've never had a problem. Why pay for sub-standard protection ?

Most protection tells you early when nearing the date of expiry. I had Norton for trial and like a fool bought into it 3 years ago. just to find it didn't protect me fully. I now use PC tools and have Anti-virus, Spy-Ware Doctor,Reg.Mec. all for a lower price than Norton, I found it to have much better protection, and easier to use.

Perhaps you need to register it. Remove it from your computer and then reinstall it. If it doesn't self correct to give you the full 366 days, then email Norton's Customer Service for help.
Good luck.

Don't bother with norton anti-virus. It just uses up most of your system resources. Just use AVG from Grisoft.
